We are proud to offer Mid- Michigan's most comprehensive and accurate vascular diagnostic services in the Michigan Vascular Diagnostic Center. In 1980, the physicians of Michigan Vascular Center founded the non-invasive vascular laboratory as an adjunct to the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. From its inception, the vascular laboratory has operated under a comprehensive Quality Assurance Program (correlating laboratory, angiography and surgery), and in 1990 was among the first in the country to obtain accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) .

Types of testing available:
Cerebrovascular (Carotid Artery) Duplex Examination:
utilizes duplex ultrasonography to evaluate the cervical carotid, and vertebral arteries to determine the location and severity of occlusive disease.
Arterial Doppler:
determines segmental arterial pressures at multiple sites of the extremity and provides accurate, reproducible, and objective information regarding the degree of arterial occlusive disease.
Arterial Duplex:
utilizes duplex ultrasonography to examine upper and lower extremity arteries and bypass grafts. This technique provides a non-invasive visualization of plaques or blockages in the vessels. In addition, duplex can be used to identify problems after groin puncture for catheterization and guide the treatment of many "pseudoaneuysms" without surgery.
Venous Duplex:
utilizes duplex ultrasonography to evaluate the upper and/or lower extremity venous system for the presence of deep and superficial venous thrombosis, either chronic or acute. Venous valvular function is also evaluated.
Abdominal Aortic Imaging:
utilizes duplex ultrasonography to evaluate the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries to determine the presence of occlusive disease and/or aneurysmal dilitation. If an aneurysm is suspected or known, ultrasound will help confirm the presence and follow the size for enlargement.
Renal and Mesenteric Artery Imaging:
also utilizes duplex ultrasonography to evaluate the branch arteries off of the aorta to determine the presence and degree of occlusive disease.
